Baby Signing

This 90-minute course will give parents the ASL (American Sign Language) vocabulary to teach and communicate with their child. This is what we call Baby Sign. Children can communicate with their hands at an earlier age then they can speak; therefore, parents that use Baby Sign give their children another way to express themselves. This can help the parent understand their child at a much younger age. So come join our fun and informative class where we will learn songs and the signs for: milk, more, eat, mom, dad, shoes, giraffe, elephant, flower and many more.

About the Instructor
Leah's ASL career started when she was a baby. Baby Sign was her first language, which she learned from her deaf brother who was six years older. Having been integrated in the deaf community throughout her childhood, Leah decided to dedicate herself to Interpreting as a career. She completed a two year program of learning the cross-cultural issues and linguistic of ASL. Leah has worked as a pre school-teacher at Tiny Sign, which is an organization designed to teach young children ASL whether the children are deaf with hearing parents or vise versa. As an individual whose first language was Baby Sign, Leah is a strong advocate for empowering the communication bond between child and parent through the use of Baby Sign.
