Infant Massage Workshop

to sign up over the phone, please call 415 550 2611
Touch is the first language.
Through the ritual of massage, you learn your baby, as she begins to learn who and where she is. Your connectedness, each to the other, deepens. The giving and receiving of massage teaches compassion and respect, through attentive communication and nurturing touch. Massage nourishes your child, and facilitates all aspects of his development.
In this two-hour class, you will gain confidence as parents, and bond with your little one. You will learn how to give a simple, full-body infant massage, as well as techniques to relieve specific complaints such as gas, constipation, colic and stress. You will have an opportunity to discuss issues of early parenting such as crying, reading and responding to your baby's cues, and parental self-care. The class is for babies eight weeks to not-yet crawling. Register early, as class size is small.
- Please bring two adult-size bath towels; and two cloth diapers, washcloths, or small towels.
- Dress comfortably - you will be sitting on the floor.
- Babies require warmth, and naked babies require more warmth. We will heat the room accordingly, so dress for a tropical climate.
- Partners are welcome. Babies at some point during the class will likely need to be fed, changed and/or need to sleep. One person can meet these needs as they arise, and the other can focus on class content and practice on a doll provided by the teacher.
