Matrescence is a developmental process, similar to adolescence, where a mother's brain, body, psychology, identity, and social relationships are shifting in significant ways. While the science is clear that matrescence plays a major role in the emotional well-being of women in early motherhood, this information is rarely shared with women and birthing people. Today, 80% of postpartum people experience significant emotional distress while transitioning into caring for a new child. The maternal wisdom that exists deep in the science of matrescence may be a critical missing piece to address the postpartum mental health crisis and help families thrive. In this workshop, licensed psychologist and former UCSF clinical researcher, Dr. Katrina Roundfield, will share about the science of matrescence, explain how matrescence affects the mental health of postpartum women, and provide the audience with a practical strategy to support emotional wellness in early motherhood.

Throughout this 1-hour workshop you will:

    -Define Matrescence
-Understand how Matrescence affects mental health
-Feel empowered that Matrescence may also be your superpower

    Please note:
