Siblings Workshop - Preparing through Play: In Person
The non-member rate for this workshop is $75 and the member rate is $60 for 1 Child. Click here to purchase your membership today.
This child-focused workshop will help you and your child(ren) (ages 2 ½-5 years) prepare to welcome a new baby into your family.
In this 2 hour workshop, expectant siblings and their families will engage in a hands-on, play-based approach to pregnancy, labor, birth and the arrival of a new baby. Together, we'll ease the transition into this new role through activities that nurture your child's capacity for empathy and empowerment as a big sibling, normalize any big emotions surrounding the impending changes, and allow space for you to connect as a growing family.
Participants in this class will:
-explore the sights and sounds of labor and birth through developmentally appropriate books, role play, and a short video
-discover the many ways siblings can be involved in the process before, during and after baby's arrival
-practice reading newborn cues and newborn care through interactive, hands-on games
-craft the start of a "big brother/sister kit," or social-emotional toolbox
-take home a comprehensive list of resources for parents to extend learning and preparedness at home
So that the instructor may tailor the class to your family's specific needs, please fill out this intake form.
-The caregiver who will be with your child during birth (nanny, sibling doula, grandparent, friend) is encouraged to attend.
-Registration includes 1 child and 2 caregivers.
-There is an additional fee for a second child.

Natalie has her BA in Environmental Humanities from Whitman College and continues to explore through her work as a sibling doula and teacher the human relationship to nature and natural processes. Currently, Natalie is a Pre-K teacher in San Francisco.
