Whether you are a first time parent, new to the Bay Area, or maybe it has been a few years since you’ve welcomed a baby into your family this workshop was designed for you.
We recommend that you attend this workshop in your first trimester or early second trimester as you are beginning to explore and make decisions regarding your birth including where you will birth your baby, how you are going to birth your baby, and which resources you want to access as you prepare for birth. Not only will you leave this workshop with confidence making birth time decisions, but also with new connections to other parents following your same gestational timeline.

-Creating your birth team (Midwife, Doula, OB, Family/Friends)
-Nutrition and Active Living during pregnancy
-Personalized timeline for pregnancy and postpartum
-Preparing for postpartum
-Registration does not include a support person; however, you are welcome to register them separately.
Lauren Miller Brown is a San Francisco Bay Area native who specializes in providing nurturing, connective, therapeutic massage, doula services and childbirth education classes. She has been a birth doula for since 2007 and feel very fortunate that she is so passionate about her work and that she found it at such a young age. Her work continues to inspire her to this day and she can't imagine doing anything else.
Lauren's road to birth work began after taking a Doulas of North America training in 2007. After completing her Doula certification she enrolled in Alive and Well! The Institute of Conscious Bodywork in Marin County. Lauren completed her massage training in 2008 and has been working as a bodyworker ever since. After massage school, Lauren worked as a massage therapist at The Mindful Body in San Francisco from 2009-2015, focusing on prenatal massage in particular, as well as with a wide variety of clients, including athletes, yogis, and San Francisco's tech community.
Shalini Shah is a prenatal educator, lactation counselor, and full spectrum doula who has been working with expectant families for over 10 years. Throughout her career, she has supported over 1,500 families in navigating the pregnancy and birthing process.
Her pragmatic evidence based approach offers expectant parents the opportunity to tap into their intuition and navigate their options to make the best decisions for their families. Shalini believes pregnant people should birth where they feel comfortable, safe, and empowered and supports clients birthing at home, in hospitals, and at birth centers. She is down-to-earth and compassionate in her care, bringing a steady sense of peace, joy, and humor to the process.
Shalini is proud to work with people of all identities and family structures. She is passionate about supporting the BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) community and created BIPOC In The Bay, a community resource network that increases visibility of BIPoC birth workers in the Bay Area.
Shalini is also the owner of Due Dates, a healthy date-based snack company designed for pregnant and postpartum parents.
Shalini lives in San Francisco and loves cooking, gardening, and exploring nature as an avid hiker and cyclist.
