FREE Community Baby Shower & Baby Item Swap

CLASS DESCRIPTION

• Community Baby Shower + Baby Item Swap Hosted by Natural Resources, MINA, and Black Birthing Health Initiative. The first 25 families to register will receive a free diaper bag with goodies! 

  Join us for a free, community baby shower on Sunday, May 3rd from 2-4 pm at Natural Resources, 1051 Valencia Street, San Francisco! This event is where families can connect, support one another, and keep baby essentials in circulation. 

  What to expect:

  • A warm welcome + short intro from Natural Resources, MINA, and BBHI
  • A light breathwork activity to help everyone connect
  • Time to meet other parents and parents-to-be
  • Give & receive baby essentials (prenatal–6 months)
  • BONUS: The first 25 families to register will receive a free diaper bag with goodies!

   

  General ground rules:

  • If you are donating, please limit to about 15–20 items per family so we can manage space. Only bring items that you would feel good about receiving yourself.
  • Families can take what they need; there is no strict item cap, but we encourage everyone to be mindful so all attendees can find something helpful.

  
  

  If you look to pass along outgrown baby items and give back to the community. Here are some tips:
  
  
  
  • Items with stains, rips, strong odors, or excessive wear
  • Broken, recalled, or incomplete items
  • Expired or broken gear
  • Used breast pumps, used bottle nipples, or used pacifiers
  • Opened or partially used baby food, formula, or medications

  Hot items families usually need:

  • Diapers 
  • Everyday basics like swaddles, onesies, NEW pacifiers, bottles and NEW breast pump accessories
  • Bassinets & safe sleep items
  • Strollers 
  • High chairs

   

  Please DO NOT bring:

  • Items with stains, rips, strong odors, or excessive wear
  • Broken, recalled, or incomplete items
  • Expired or broken gear
  • Used breast pumps, used bottle nipples, or used pacifiers
  • Opened or partially used baby food, formula, or medications
  • Used Carseats

• Tracy Massillon has been supporting new families through the transition to parenthood for over 20 years. She joined the Natural Resources family of educators in 2005 and co-created the curriculum for our prenatal core classes: Childbirth Preparation, Lactation, and Newborn Care & Parenting. Tracy also founded the weekly Lactation Support Circle in 2006. She continued to follow her passion of caring for new families and went to Nursing school when her two children were toddlers. She is now a Maternal/Child Health Nurse specializing in Lactation. Tracy is passionate about families receiving Doula support and has facilitated Postpartum Doula training since 2005, with the goal that all families will have access to compassionate and evidence-based support. Tracy is deeply committed to ensuring that all families have access to Doula support.
