  • Postpartum Doulas help to create the soft landing that all new parents deserve as they settle into life with a new baby. The role of a Postpartum Doula is a shifting array of learned skills and intuitive wisdom and may include breast/chest feeding help, newborn care guidance, advice on healing from birth, general household help, and referrals to community resources. The care of a Postpartum Doula can facilitate familial bonding with baby, allow parents to spend extra time with older siblings as they adjust to their new family structure, and generally provide more ease during a time of transition.

Since 1989, Natural Resources has been training doulas and helping to create a world in which new parents can thrive. In this 23-hour training you will learn practical and heart-centered techniques for supporting newly expanded families.

  • Enrollment in the program includes an informative training binder, local resources, and the option of certification after completing additional training requirements.

    Why train with us?

  • As an organization that directly educates and supports new and expecting families, we are uniquely positioned to have a holistic view of the needs of both doulas and parents. NR-trained doulas receive ongoing support and the opportunity to present their services to parents via multiple avenues, including our resource directory & monthly Find a Doula Meet & Greet.

  • Our training is comprehensive, occurs over multiple weeks (rather than an intensive weekend), and offers more lecture hours than many programs. This allows for:

      • Ample opportunities to connect with your cohort, building a network for backups, partnerships and other support.

      • More time to fully absorb and comprehend the content, ask questions, and receive feedback.

      • Attendees to receive instruction from multiple facilitators, and various guest speakers who present their experience, expertise, tips and tricks throughout the course of the training.

First of all this training was amazing..

I'm so glad we got to do this class in person! and there are so many pieces of information and resources I gained that are invaluable- the binder of information and resources as well as the community connection of doulas and support is be biggest takeaway for me- even though I won't have retained everything from our training, I'm so happy to have something I can reference when I need and continue to look over as well as people both peers and mentors I can reach out to.

This training really prepared us to start taking clients, and opened my eyes to this new world of...

I really enjoyed meeting the other women in the group, and finding out why they wanted to become doulas. I loved going deeper into detail about why it's so important to have doula care after giving birth or adopting an infant, no matter if it the first child, or if the infant has had other brothers/sisters before them. The instructor was incredibly knowledgable, and presented information in a way that was easy to understand. She is very personable and friendly, and I really enjoyed having her lead this training.
