  • Class Description

This workshop will help you prepare for the postpartum period, also known as the fourth trimester. Co-facilitated by an OB/Gyn doctor and a certified nurse midwife at CPMC, this class will cover a range of topics to help you anticipate and plan for your postpartum transition up to six weeks, with a focus on the first two weeks following the birth of your baby.

Throughout this workshop we will discuss:

    - Recovery from vaginal or cesarean birth.

    - Creating a postpartum checklist.

    - Normal changes to expect in your postpartum body.

    - Parenting intentions

We’ll also discuss how to get the most out of support resources as you transition from pregnancy to parenthood, including how to establish a Circle of Support and identify beneficial task assistance.

This one-hour workshop will include time for information sharing, personal preparation, and Q&A.

    Please Note:

-Facilitators are professionals who may have their own private practice. They may use their discretion to determine whether an additional fee is needed when their expertise is solicited outside of class.

Jodi Winemiller, C.N.M., MSN, RN I am a midwife and mother of twins. I practice full-scope midwifery care, including prenatal care and well-woman gynecology services at the Mission Bernal Women’s Clinic, CPMC. I grew up in San Diego and was drawn to midwifery after working in public health across the US-Mexico border. I received my Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University and practiced midwifery on the East Coast before joining CPMC in 2013. I love working at Mission Bernal Women’s Clinic because of the shared commitment among the midwives and doctors to combine our expertise and provide excellent family-centered care. When I’m not attending births, you can find me hiking or enjoying California's beautiful beaches with my family. I’m also a Natural Resources Board Member and have witnessed the impact of NR’s work supporting new and growing families across the Bay Area.

Anya Kogan, M.D. I practice full-scope obstetrics and gynecology and chose to practice at Mission Bernal Women’s Clinic because of its commitment to low-intervention obstetric practices and midwifery care. I find it rewarding to care for women throughout different life stages, especially the transitional periods of pregnancy and menopause. I’m originally from Ukraine, but I grew up in San Francisco and call it home. I enjoy CPMC’s supportive and nurturing environment, where I can give back to the community that’s given so much to me. I received my medical degree at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and completed my residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I speak English, Russian and Spanish. When I’m not catching babies or in surgery, you can find me exploring the Bay Area’s many hiking trails with my husband and two sons.
