The Early Years: A Group for New Parents of Littles

Some seasons of parenthood are just a lot.

The mental tabs that never close. The toddler meltdowns you didn't see coming. The preschool drop-off you somehow still cry at. The invisible work nobody names and nobody thanks you for. The love that coexists, somehow, with the exhaustion and the quiet feeling that you've lost a little bit of yourself in all of it.

The Early Years: A Group for Parents of Littles is a six-week support group for parents, co-parents and caregivers of multiple children ages 2 months to 5 years old who are craving a real, honest space to exhale, feel seen, and connect with other people in the same season.

This is not a parenting class. There's no curriculum to follow, no advice to dispense, no pressure to perform or have it together. It's a place to show up exactly as you are and find that you are not alone.

  • One of our guiding principles for this support group is inclusivity. As a group facilitator Christina is dedicated to creating a space where individuals of all gender identities, sexual orientations, ethnicities, and body sizes feel respected, valued, and safe. Regardless of your background, identity, or beliefs, you are welcome here. Christina is honored by the unique perspectives and experiences that each individual brings to the support group, and is committed to providing affirmative support for diverse identities.
  •

This group is for you if your children are between 2 months and 5 years old and you're navigating:

    • The relentless mental and physical demands of the infant and preschool years
    • The invisible load that seems to have multiplied since those early newborn days
    • The shift in identity
    • The creeping sense that you've lost yourself somewhere in the shuffle
    • Raising more than one child. The sibling dynamics, the temperament clashes, the guilt of never feeling like enough for any of them
    • The feelings nobody talks about: the rage, the loneliness, the guilt, the ambivalence, the love.

Each week we make space for:

    • Group discussions
    • Identity shifts: who you were before, who you are now
    • The myth of the "good parent" and what it quietly costs us
    • Reconnecting with yourself beyond the role of "parent"
    • Reclaiming joy in the messy, relentless middle of it all

    What you'll walk away with:

    • A sense of connection with other parents who understand your world
    • Permission to be honest
    • Tools and perspective to help you navigate the highs and lows
    • Maybe a few folks who become your people

  • Many parents continue meeting beyond the six weeks and count their group members as some of their most trusted companions in this wild season of life.

Group Format: Each 90-minute session invites open conversation around a weekly theme and offers space for honest real-life sharing. Children ages 5 months to 5 years do not attend sessions. To support a calm and focused space, we ask that only babies aged 2–4 months attend with their parent.

    Please Note:

    • This is a peer support group, not a therapy group, and is not a replacement for individual mental health care.
    • This group is especially geared toward second and third-time parents, but all parents of toddlers and preschoolers are warmly welcome.
    • Christina also runs a private practice. If additional individual support is needed, she is happy to provide referrals.

FACILITATOR:

Christina Klein, LMFT, PMH-C is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) therapist specializing in maternal mental health. She supports mothers through the emotional realities of modern motherhood — from postpartum depression and anxiety to the identity shifts, burnout, and invisible mental load that come with raising little humans.

As a mother of two young boys herself, Christina brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to her work. She understands the particular exhaustion of the early years — the love that coexists with the hard parts, and how easy it is to feel isolated even when people surround you.

Her approach is warm, down-to-earth, and deeply collaborative. She creates spaces where moms can be honest without judgment — whether that means processing difficult emotions, naming what isn't working, or simply being witnessed by someone who genuinely gets it.

Clinically, Christina integrates psychodynamic, attachment-based, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), ACT, and EMDR approaches within a client-centered, strengths-based framework. She also works through a matricentric lens — one that centers the voices and experiences of mothers and honors the full complexity of what this season of life actually asks of us.

Christina's private practice is based in Greenbrae, Marin County, where she offers individual therapy in person and via telehealth throughout California. If group members need additional individual support, she is happy to provide referrals.
