  • Class Description

It's time to get connected to the part of your body through which your baby is born. So many of us are disconnected, misinformed and confused about how our vaginas and pelvises work and how we can work with them to prepare for birth.

This childbirth preparation workshop is for you if you have thought any of the following questions:

-How is my baby going to get out of my vagina?
-How will I handle the sensations of my vagina opening?
-How can I make childbirth painless or less painful?
-How can I go beyond Kegel exercises for birth and postpartum?
-How can I avoid tearing or injuring my pelvic floor?
-How can I have a more satisfying prenatal and postpartum sex life?
-How can I learn pelvic floor exercises for birth during pregnancy to cultivate postpartum pelvic health?

In this safe, confidential, supportive environment, you'll have an opportunity to take an inward journey (fully clothed) to expand your capacity to open your pelvis more easily for the birth of your baby, your pleasure and your power. We'll illuminate and begin to release any shame, suffering, negative beliefs, traumas and unconscious physiological patterns that could make it difficult for us to open and accept the intensity of birth. We recommend taking this course at any point during your pregnancy, and want to highlight that many of these birth preparation exercises will be beneficial to practice throughout, so the earlier you register, the more time you will have to integrate this content into your preparation for labor and birth.

    Please Note:

-More details on the content covered in these sessions is included below.
-This series is for all pregnant people, as well as birth workers with vaginas.
-Facilitators are professionals who may have their own private practice. They may use their discretion to determine whether an additional fee is needed when their expertise is solicited outside of class.

With lots of humor, compassion, and levity, we'll practice the following:

    -Simple prenatal yoga poses
-Focused breathing techniques for birth and beyond
    -Hypnosis-based visualization practices
    -Sound-based relaxation techniques for labor
-Fun exercises in class and at home

This is an invitation to get real and vulnerable with yourself, and the people in the room, with the intention of having a more empowered, enlightened, and less painful experience of birth.

We will be using the following props during class. If you have your own and want to bring them, you are welcome to do so.

    -A yoga mat
-Two blocks of the same size, or two piles of hardcover books ready to use instead of blocks. A small step stool could also work.
-A bolster or a couple of thick pillows or cushions from your sofa.
-A couple of blankets, or big bath/ beach towels, or tightly woven wool or cotton blankets.
-If you happen to use a pregnancy ball / birthing ball and or foam roller at home, those could be useful too.
-And since I will be recommending that you have these props for life beyond the class, and to practice and support you in birth, it might be worthwhile to invest in them. I really like the props from Hugger Mugger. I like the “standard yoga bolsters.” They also have lots of blocks and blankets to choose from! Sports Basement as well as most natural foods stores sell yoga props.

I’m so glad Natural Resources is part of my journey to motherhood.

I loved the specific strategies for stretching, breathing, etc. I feel like we could have had one more session and it would have been super valuable.
